London – Acrobats, aerialists and daredevil motorcyclists take centre stage at the Garrick Theatre as the acclaimed circus spectacular returns with a new production for the October half-term.
The circus is back in town, but this time there is no big top in sight. Instead, the thrills, danger and extraordinary physical artistry of Cirque Berserk! have taken over London’s Garrick Theatre, bringing a high-octane spectacle to the heart of the West End.
Running from 21 to 31 October, the critically acclaimed production returns with a new show directed by Matt Page, combining traditional circus skills with contemporary theatrical staging and adrenaline-fuelled stunts.
At a time when West End entertainment is largely associated with musicals and plays, Cirque Berserk! offers something different: an international troupe of more than 30 acrobats, aerialists and daredevil performers pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved on a theatre stage.
The concept is deceptively simple. Take the spectacle of the traditional circus, remove the familiar surroundings of the big top and bring its most breathtaking elements into the intimate setting of a West End theatre.
The result is a production built around extraordinary physical skills, daring feats and the kind of entertainment that appeals to audiences across generations.
At the centre of the excitement is the legendary Globe of Death, the show’s signature motorcycle stunt, in which motorcyclists perform inside a spherical steel cage. Described as one of the world’s most hair-raising circus acts, it remains one of the production’s most distinctive attractions.
Yet Cirque Berserk! is not simply about dangerous stunts. Its appeal also lies in the combination of traditional circus artistry and contemporary performance, bringing together acrobatics, aerial displays and carefully choreographed sequences in a theatrical setting.
The new production features choreography by Mike Denman, with lighting and sound design by Robbie Lopusni. Familiar Cirque Berserk! acts return alongside new additions, promising a mixture of established favourites and fresh thrills.
The show’s reputation has already attracted enthusiastic reviews. The Daily Express described it as “anarchic and outrageous”, awarding it five stars, while The Sun praised its appeal to both children and adults. The Daily Mail, meanwhile, awarded it four stars, highlighting the raw talent and pulse-quickening nature of its performances.
That cross-generational appeal is particularly relevant during the October half-term holidays, when families are looking for entertainment that offers something beyond the conventional theatre experience.
With age guidance of five and over, Cirque Berserk! is positioned as a family-friendly production that does not sacrifice excitement or spectacle for its younger audience.
The producers have also introduced a special Half Price for Half Term offer, allowing children aged 15 and under to attend at half price across all ticket bands except Band D, subject to availability.
Ultimately, what distinguishes Cirque Berserk! from a conventional West End production is its emphasis on live physical performance. There are no elaborate fictional narratives to follow or complex characters to decipher. Instead, the focus is on human agility, precision, courage and the enduring appeal of circus entertainment.
For audiences seeking an alternative to the traditional musical or play, its return offers the opportunity to experience the thrills of the big top in one of London’s best-known theatre districts.
And with the legendary Globe of Death among the attractions, this is a circus that certainly does not intend to play it safe.
Cirque Berserk! runs at the Garrick Theatre, 2 Charing Cross Road, London WC2H 0HH, until 31 October 2026. Tickets start at £25, with half-price admission for children aged 15 and under, excluding Band D and subject to availability. Age guidance: 5+.
